This is one of three that I collected from EBay during 2006. Gavia produced
three boxed versions; a low tech, a hi tech and the three gun hi tech
version. This is the three gun hi tech release. Nice box art yeah? Of course
Gavia is part of the same 'family' as Eduard so we are on solid ground
here. Some of the accessories you can collect for this kit are:

The sprues are all in a single bag that
I obviously didn't open just for the photo. To see the contents in
detail go to the lo tech Gavia La-7 Project
here. |
This includes the extra resin parts just
for the three gun nose. |
The clear parts, photoetch, canopy &
markings mask plus instrument panel are packaged separately. |
The kit Instructions, Painting Guide and
Decal sheet - all excellent. |
Aftermarket Extras

 |
This is a
useful piece of reference from Scale Aircraft Modelling published in
the magazine in February 2004. |
Those
Aeroclub propeller blades. It remains to be seen if these are in any
way superior to the kit offering... This one set is reserved for the
lo tech kit. |
This is the
large colour photoetch set from Eduard which is the 'Zoom' set but
with lots of extras. I will probably save this one set for the 'lo
tech' version of the Gavia Kit. |
This is the 'Zoom' set of colour
photoetch from Eduard. As you would expect it is beautiful however I
will reserve this one set for use on the LTD LaGG-3 kit. |

Part photoetch set AB48101 for the La-7. |
Part photoetch set AB48102 La-7 flaps. |

Fighter Main wheels for ICM, Classic Airframes, Hobbycraft, MiG-3,

Decals
|
 |
 |
 |
 |
The Aeromaster decal set 48-534
"Falcons of the Red Star" Part 3. |
This early set from Aeromaster predates
their involvement with Erik Pilawskii hence the use of FS colour
references. |
Five La-7's are on offer here. This set
seems to pre-date the Gavia kit judging by its advice to use the
Academy/Hobbycraft kit. |
The SuperScale Decal set 48-428
featuring La-7's and La-5FN's of Popkov and Kozhedub. Definitely
worth checking the reference first! |
 |
|
|
|
Three aircraft depicted on the set are
those of Ivan Kozhedub, one La-5FN is on an unknown pilot with the
final 'FN being Popkov. |
